Never Skip The Most Important Meal of The Day Again

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Even if you don’t get out of bed until 11am, you still need to make time for it. Here are four tasty ways to start your day.

Boiled eggs and soldiers

Ingredients:

  • Eggs – kept at room temperature
  • Bread
  • Butter
  • Marmite (optional)

Method:

  1. Put enough water in a pan to cover your eggs and bring the water to the boil
  2. Carefully lower your eggs into the boiling water
  3. Set the timer for five minutes and toast your bread
  4. Butter your toast, spread with marmite if desired
  5. Serve your toast in thin slices and your eggs in egg cups

Mighty muesli

Ingredients:

  • Plain muesli
  • Milk/yoghurt/Greek yoghurt/other dairy substitute
  • Fruit – dried or fresh
  • Honey (optional)

Method:

  1. Put your plain muesli in a bowl and choose your favourite dairy or dairy substitute
  2. Slice or dice the fruit – banana, strawberries, kiwi, apple, and mixed berries work well
  3. Add to the bowl and serve with a teaspoon of honey (optional)

Ultimate bacon sandwich

Ingredients:

  • Bacon
  • Bread
  • Tomato
  • Avocado
  • Your choice of sauces – ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard, apple sauce

Method:

  1. Cook your bacon either with a small amount of oil in a frying pan or under the grill until it’s exactly the way you like it
  2. Slice the tomato and avocado thinly
  3. Spread the bread with your choice of sauce – we like a ketchup and mayo combo!
  4. Construct your sandwich

Mushrooms on toast

Ingredients:

  • Bread
  • Mushrooms – they should be wiped with a dry cloth and sliced fairly thinly
  • Oil/butter
  • Worcestershire sauce, chilli powder, pepper, mixed herbs, any other flavourings

Method:

  1. In a frying pan heat a small amount of oil, or if you’re not concerned about the calories, butter
  2. Add the mushrooms, any additional flavourings you want, and cook on a medium heat until they colour and lose some liquid
  3. Stir the mushrooms frequently and toast your bread
  4. Butter your toast and top with mushrooms
  5. Serve with your choice of sauces such as ketchup, brown sauce, or mustard
