Facilities

The University of Derby is spread across several teaching and learning sites, located in or near the city centre. Derby is a relatively small city which means that all sites are conveniently within walking distance from the halls of residence and the city centre. For those rainy days, you can hop on one of our handy Unibuses which will get you from A to B.

Our main site is at Kedleston Road and features an outstanding Sports Centre, a four-storey library, a Multi-faith Centre and the Union of Students. You’ll also find lots of popular eateries including Starbucks and Subway.

The University of Derby also has a site in Chesterfield which is recognised as a Centre of Excellence for Health and Social Care.

City

Adventure-seekers, sport-enthusiasts, theatre-buffs, nature-lovers, and foodies will all feel at home in Derby. It’s safe to say that for a small city – it certainly packs a punch.

Derby seamlessly blends the fast-paced city life with beautiful countryside, meaning if the hustle and bustle ever becomes too much, you’re never far away from a green and peaceful setting. The Peak District is just on the doorstep and promises fantastic weekend walking trips – the perfect way to unwind.

The city centre has a fantastic mix of mainstream restaurants and shops in the Intu Centre, and quaint cafes and boutiques in Cathedral Quarter. For the sport fans, Pride Park Stadium (home to Derby County Football Club – “The Rams”) sits just outside the centre next to the Derby Arena Velodrome. Derbyshire County Cricket Club is also located nearby.

Fantastic transport links makes Derby a convenient and connected base for your studies. Closely located near to the M1 and M6 motorways, students are always within reach of home or to fun weekend trips. Derby train station is situated on the main cross-country line, so travelling around the UK couldn’t be easier.
