Leicester Medical School Open Days

Study Medicine at the University of Leicester

Booking online will guarantee a place at this busy open day. The University of Leicester do run Medicine Focus Open Days but the dates for the next one are have not been released yet. On these days, you will get to meet academic staff and current students and attend sessions about the 5 year Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB ChB) course that Leicester provides. Ask students what their typical week as a medical student is like and how they are assessed. A student’s perspective on the university and course is a useful one to have.  You will also get to see the Medical School Building and the dissection room (which other universities don’t have). Take this opportunity to look at the facilities as you won’t be able to do this on a general university open day.

The normal open day gives you a chance to look around the campus and student accommodation as well as listening to talks on everything you need to know about applying to medicine – including the UK Clinical Aptitude Test (UKCAT) test that you will have to sit. Try and find out what the interview process involves as this will help you to prepare for it if you apply to Leicester. There will also be other talks about student finance and other subjects that you may be interested in. Leicester isn’t the biggest of places so if you have time, take a look at the area and see if you could imagine yourself staying there.

Can’t make the open day?

Contact the Student Recruitment Office to arrange your own visit. You will be able to go on a campus tour which will be led by a Leicester Ambassador. You can ask a staff member from the Medical Department if they are available to meet you and answer any of your questions or give you some advice. However, you won’t be able to look at the medical school as this is only open to visitors on Medicine Focus Open Days.
