Facilities

The University's facilities have benefited from multi-million pound investment over recent years. Whatever your course, you can be sure you'll be provided with everything you need to succeed.

Living Lab

The Living Lab opened in 2016 and is an integrated facility designed to nurture interprofessional learning. It includes mock hospital wards, an OSCE suite, simulated pharmacies, and an immersive suite which allows students to experience simulated clinical scenarios.

The Sciences Complex

The Sciences Complex is based on our City Campus. It has benefited from multi-million pound investment in modern facilities in recent years and continues to develop as our health sciences offer grows.

It is the central hub for many of our health and sciences courses and is made up of a variety of teaching and learning spaces, including labs, problem-based learning classrooms and facilities that encourage interprofessional learning. A lot of academic staff offices are based here, with an open-door policy in place.

The David Goldman Technology Centre

The David Goldman Technology Centre is set on a stunning riverside location at The Sir Tom Cowie Campus at St Peter’s. It is a high-tech computing environment with over 230 computer workstations and specialist dedicated computing and engineering labs.

Media Centre

Our David Puttnam Media Centre is a buzzing place to study with a 200-seat HD cinema, TV and radio studios and the mediaHUB, a bustling multimedia newsroom.

Reg Vardy Centre

With river views, and its close proximity to both the coast and Sunderland City Centre, the Reg Vardy Centre is an excellent place to study. It is home to Sunderland Business School and Sunderland Law School and features a Moot Law Court which provides students with a simulated court experience, the Law Clinic and the Marketing Hub.

Libraries

We have two libraries: St Peter's Library at the Sir Tom Cowie Campus, and Murray Library at City Campus. A range of services and support is available, including flexible learning spaces and resources. They are fully-stocked with a wealth of books, journals, online resources and a dedicated subject specialist for every course we offer.

CitySpace

CitySpace is the University’s iconic facility for sports and social activity on the University’s City Campus. The flagship facility includes a six badminton court sports hall, 70 station fitness suite, new strength and conditioning room equipped to develop strength and body conditioning, sports massage and injuries clinic, multi-purpose studios, indoor climbing wall and retail, social, catering, leisure and exhibition spaces.
