BA (Hons) Business and Management

Why did you choose Durham University Business School?

"I was drawn to Durham University due to its remarkable sporting opportunities.  I knew I had made the right decision because recently Durham University was named Sports University of the Year (Sunday Times 2015)."

What aspects of the course do you like?

"We are assessed through examinations and are also able to demonstrate our potential through film, coursework and reports.  This combined assessment provides opportunities for all individuals to shine in the areas in which they excel most."

What is the highlight of your time at Durham University Business School?

"It may sound daft but I don’t really have a highlight because simply coming to Durham has changed my life for the better.  I can’t imagine being anywhere else.  Durham has inspired me to participate in a number of activities which have broadened my horizons. This is largely because of the range of sports and arts on offer. I am just living life to the full!"

BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance with business placement

What attracted you to Durham University Business School?

"I attended an open day and immediately fell in love with Queen’s campus. The distance between lecture theatres and accommodation was a big selling point as it takes around a minute to walk to lectures and seminars. When meeting the staff I instantly felt welcome. They were kind, answered all questions and gave a great introduction to the course.  Durham University is highly prestigious and I feel privileged to be a student here. The option of the business placement is a big bonus and really attracted me to the university."

What are the highlights of the course?

"The multiple opportunities to participate in group work and constructing presentations is a big highlight. Being assigned with tasks leading you to investigate topics and companies really gives an insight into the business world, and is great for improving general knowledge.  Also, the constant linking between the subjects in hand and current events;  day-to-day examples make understanding the work a lot easier and make the lectures and seminars interesting."

What are your plans after you graduate?

"I intend to become a fully chartered accountant and possibly work in Canada. Achieving a degree in accountancy and finance from Durham University will certainly make this path easier."
