The University of Cumbria offers one of the most affordable and enjoyable university experiences, with halls from £54 per week and low tuition fees, all set in the stunning surroundings of the Lake District and Cumbria. No wonder the university attracts over 10,500 students a year to a range of courses from business and computing to Forestry and Outdoor studies, Creative Arts to Science and Engineering. University sites take full advantage of their spectacular setting, from Carlisle and Penrith in the north to Barrow and Lancaster in the south, including Ambleside in the heart of the Lakes. All students have access to the many facilities at all campuses, so you will benefit from a range of specialist sites. Cumbria also has a new London Campus.
The University of Cumbria has a host of professional standard facilities, which are designed to enable students to get relevant experience and skills that are directly transferable to the workplace on graduation. The courses are flexible and allow students to experience a wide range of facilities and faculties across the many university sites.
While Cumbria isn’t famed for its transport network, most sites can be reached quickly and easily via the M6 or the West Coast Mainline rail services. In the unlikely event that you tire of the beauty of the Lakes, Blackpool, Manchester and Glasgow are all within easy reach.
Accommodation is an absolute bargain, when you consider what you would pay to holiday in the Lakes. A small single room in halls in Penrith will cost just £57 per week, and even the largest en-suite rooms in Ambleside only cost £99 per week.
The fees are a bargain too, with undergraduate degrees just £8,250 per year.
Cumbria offers 111 NSP scholarships, worth £3,000 in the first year, along with a number of other individual bursaries and scholarships based on financial need and academic excellence.
