We have a range of modern, purpose-built accommodation for students, all located within 1.5 miles of the city centre.
First year undergraduate students starting in September are guaranteed a single study-bedroom in one of our five student accommodation centres:
All-male and all-female flats can be made available, dependent on application date and availability.
Benefits of halls of residence
All student accommodation centres are self-catered, with fully equipped kitchens and on-site laundry facilities.
Personal possessions insurance is included within the rent, as is free internet access.
A free campus bus service links all centres to both campuses, and there is also free parking for students with cars.
Sunderland is one of the best-value places in the UK to be a student.
The cost of our university accommodation ranges from approximately £68 per week for a standard room, to £90 per week for an ensuite single study bedroom with river views. (A typical undergraduate/postgraduate contract is 40 (UG) 50 (PG) weeks)

It might sound too good to be true, but we have a brilliant 200-seater cinema in the David Putnam Media Centre.

The University has two state-of-the-art libraries for you to study and work on your latest assignments; one on each campus. During core teaching weeks the Murray Library is open 24/7 and the St Peter’s Library is open until midnight.
