Founded in 1841 and receiving the title of University in 2006, York St John has a long and proud tradition of educating students. This means that 2016 is both its 10th year as a University and 175th year of providing high-quality higher education in York. Its campus is just a stone's throw from the vibrant and bustling city centre of York. The 11-acre site is in a beautiful setting, facing the world-famous York Minster, where our students can look forward to graduating.
With over £100m invested in the Campus in the last ten years this is an opportunity to study in exciting and cutting-edge buildings and facilities, from the renovated Victorian Chapel to the award-winning De Grey Court. As a relatively small university, we get to know our students well and work hard to help you realise your own potential. Our students leave with a real feeling of not only succeeding academically, but also with a belief that they have grown as a person.
York St John University offers a comprehensive list of undergraduate courses in subjects as varied as Accounting and Finance, Creative Writing in addition to Christian Theology, Music and Tourism.
95.7% of our graduates (2014) were in employment or full-time study six months after graduating. We understand that employers are looking for that little bit extra when assessing job applications therefore we ensure that you have access to a fantastic range of opportunities to develop your strengths, learn new skills and gain invaluable work experience.

Our students regularly tell us that they love the York St John community and that this is an incredibly friendly place to live and learn. In fact York was ranked the 4th safest city in the UK in the Complete University Guide's 2015 'How safe is your city?' ranking. Students love the fact that they can walk across the campus and see lots of familiar faces and that the staff in their area know them by name – none of our students are just a number to us.
Our students consistently tell us that our staff (both academic and support staff) are approachable, friendly and supportive and our Academic Tutor System ensures that you have all the support you need, when you need it.
Major investment of over £100million in recent years has seen the development of exciting and cutting-edge buildings and facilities. The Campus is now an impressive blend of the contemporary and historic, ranging from the RIBA award-winning De Grey Court to the 19th century surroundings of the Quad.
