Why Choose University of Liverpool?

We are all the things you would expect from a Russell Group university – a research powerhouse in the top 1% of universities worldwide, a globally connected institution, a place where students from all walks of life are welcomed and given the opportunity to shine. So what makes us different?

Outstanding, award-winning facilities

Our commitment to investing in our facilities means that our students benefit from some of the best of any UK university. Examples include our award-winning £23 million Central Teaching Laboratories have revolutionised the way we teach Physical and Environmental Sciences and our £14 million investment in our Guild of Students has provided a multi-functional student hub in the heart of our campus.

Opportunity for all

We pride ourselves on giving people from all walks of life the opportunity to shine. This commitment is something we take very seriously and is backed up by the fact that we are top in the Russell group for attracting students from “low participation” areas.

Come to Liverpool… see the world

We are a global university, with a diverse student body and partnerships across the world, from our University in China to our campus in London. Join us and these networks will open opportunities to travel, study abroad and make your own worldwide connections. We are keen to open up the life-changing opportunity to study abroad to as many of our students as possible. Our new Year in China programme offers many of our students the amazing opportunity to spend a year studying at our partner University, XJTLU.

An ambitious university for the 21st century

We have a history of doing things first. We were the original “redbrick” university and the first to open departments in Architecture, Biochemistry and Civic Design – to name just a few. We have nine Nobel laureates to our name and we are the largest provider of online education in Europe with our partner, Laureate.  But we don’t rest on our history, we are always looking forward to the next big ambition. So we were one of the first to open a partner university in China, and we were pioneers in opening a campus in London.

In the heart of an amazing city

Liverpool is different. It has a spirit, energy and warmth which is unique, and it’s all wrapped up in a city of beautiful architecture, leafy parks, fresh air, sporting excellence, a thriving independent shopping scene – plus all the big high street names, legendary nightlife and an unrivalled cultural offer.
