Students study and gain practical experience of writing in many forms from poetry and short fiction to drama, screenwriting, and creative non-fiction. These practical modules are taught alongside more traditional English Literature modules which look at the history, traditions, and theory of English Literature.
As well as the academic staff there are also a number of experience writers who are both faculty members and guest lecturers/speakers.
The Department works closely with the Dylan Thomas Centre and National Theatre Wales so students can build good links with industry whilst they’re still studying.
This three year, full time course also has international opportunities as students can choose to study either in Hong Kong or the USA for a semester during the second year of their degree.
