UCLan Burnley’s first class university campus has been developed around a strong partnership between Burnley College and the University of Central Lancashire for more than 40 years, with an £11 million investment by Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) and the University of Central Lancashire. The campus itself is the only University within the heart of Pennine Lancashire, offering University education with the idyllic backdrop of the East Lancashire countryside right on the doorstep.
The iconic Princess Way campus boasts state-of-the-art, industry-led facilities and innovative research to support the learning and growth of the local community. Courses are often developed with employers and the community at the heart of the curriculum, offering truly innovative and valuable learning.

The University Campus on Princess Way is just five minutes’ walk from Burnley town centre. Here you can find a modern shopping centre, multi-screen cinema, international market, bowling alley, leisure centre, art gallery and plenty of nightlife. The town also houses two stately homes and museums, along with the popular Burnley Mechanics theatre which hosts touring comedians and musical acts and amateur dramatics.
There are several large parks in the town, including Towneley Park, once the deer park for the 15th century Towneley Hall, and three winners of the Green Flag Award, including Queens Park, which hosts a summer season of brass band concerts each year, and Thompson Park.
The town is currently benefiting from over £1bn of investment for regeneration and business growth, which gives a unique blend between its historic past with attractions such as a working forge, an award-winning brewery, a gin and vodka distillery, and the trendy new pubs and clubs scene.
Each year Burnley hosts the two-day Burnley National Blues Festival, one of the largest Blues festivals in the country. Premier League Burnley Football Club are based at the Turf Moor Football Stadium within the town.
