We offer accommodation in University-owned and managed residences on both a semi-catered and self-catered basis. Over 800 of our rooms are en-suite. All main sites are covered by CCTV.
University self-catered accommodation is available on the basis of a 44, 46 or 48-week tenancy and costs in the region of between £100 and £150 per week. These fees vary according to the category of the room.
Private accommodation in York can cost between £70 and £80 per week.
Residences are arranged in small blocks around lawned gardens in the centre of the main campus, just minutes from the city centre. All rooms are single with a washbasin, and bathrooms are shared. Each block has a small kitchen area on each floor. WiFi facilities are available in this accommodation. In addition 10 en-suite rooms have recently been refurbished on this site.
Currently, the semi-catered package for students living at Lord Mayor’s Walk provides a catering payment card which you can use around campus as you wish.
Percy’s Lane, our fantastic, purpose-built, self-catering en-suite accommodation can house 272 students. These smart facilities are located within the city walls and next to a wide variety of local amenities, Just 10-15 minutes walk from the University campus.
The accommodation is split into cluster flats with en-suite facilities, for small groups of students, and self-contained studio flats. All rooms have Internet access.
This en-suite development is approximately seven minutes walk from the main campus. The 25 flats provide 124 en-suite single study bedrooms with free Internet access. Each flat has a shared kitchen.
This development is about 15 minutes walk from our main campus. It currently offers smart self-catering facilities to 143 students. Each bedroom has Internet access. Kitchens and bathrooms are shared (two shower rooms in each house of five students).
The Grange residence is set in its own landscaped grounds about 10 minutes walk from the campus. The 51 flats and 36 houses provide 416 self-catered student rooms. Each house/flat has a shared kitchen and bathroom and some have a lounge area. WiFi facilities are available at the Grange.
This recently completed £12m development provides 258 state-of-the-art en-suite bedrooms and studio flats. Most en-suite bedrooms are within flats for six students and have a shared kitchen. The accommodation is located within the city walls and is only a 10 minute walk from the University. Internet access is provided.
We operate a scheme with local landlords whereby a number of properties, all of which are within walking distance of the University, are privately owned but managed by the Accommodation team to ensure they meet the requirements of the Code of Best Practice.
Some students prefer to live in houses and flats rented from private landlords. The Accommodation Office can help you find this type of accommodation. We only advertise properties that comply with The Code of Best Practice for Student Accommodation.
