Students at the University of Derby have the opportunity to learn using the most advanced facilities, latest technologies and industry-standard equipment, all of which make for an exceptional student experience and the chance to prepare for the workplace.

Some of our fantastic facilities include a dedicated film and television studio space, financial markets lab, replica Crown Court, architecture studio crime scene house for forensic training, and NHS-standard hospital ward and much more tailored to our wide range of courses.

Here at the University, we are continuously investing in our campus facilities and the overall student experience, and we will soon be adding a £5.8 million Biomedical Science Super Lab to Kedleston Road. This interdisciplinary facility will focus on core elements of Biomedical Science including haematology, immunology, histopathology, molecular biology, genetics and cell/tissue culture.

In the coming years, a brand-new Business School is also set to open offering a modern hub for both students and start-up companies to learn, network and prosper. This state-of-the-art build can be found near to One Friar Gate Square and will be the first net zero carbon business school outside of London. It will feature an extended reality (XR) suite, a stock trading room, a simulation suite, a range of creative labs, and dedicated business zones where students can work closely with businesses.

The University also holds a site in Chesterfield, where old meets new to create a state-of-the-art provision for nursing and some health care courses. Among its facilities is a cutting-edge Immersive Interactive Simulation Suite, replicating real-life scenarios in a safe learning environment.
