Based at Thornton Science Park, the Faculty of Science and Engineering is located in a major research and innovation hub for the North West. Formerly the site of the Shell Technology, Exploration and Research Centre, its takeover by the University has created the opportunity to apply the Centre’s legacy to the continuation of world-class innovation and research in science and engineering in the North West.
Our degrees in engineering and natural sciences are taught on site at Thornton using a strongly interdisciplinary teaching philosophy. From September 2014, The School of Computer Science and Mathematics will be joining the site at Thornton offering a range of stimulating and exciting courses.
All our undergraduate degrees emphasise practical skills alongside theoretical knowledge to maximise the opportunities for our graduates. In the engineering subjects, we offer both three-year Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degrees and also four-year integrated Master of Engineering (MEng) degrees. Degrees in Computer Science, Natural Sciences and Mathematics take three years.
