Sample university interview questions for a physiotherapy degree

If you’re applying to study Physiotherapy at university then you can almost guarantee that you’ll need to attend an interview. Nearly all of the UK universities that offer a Physiotherapy course ask their candidates to interview so it’s best to be prepared.

Some universities have a one on one interview system for prospective students and others prefer a group or panel interview approach for Physiotherapy students. Regardless of how they interview you they will looking to see that you can communicate clearly and effectively, that you have at least a basic knowledge of the subject, have gained relevant work experience, and that you are making the right subject choice.

If you are taking part in a group interview they will also want to see that you can work well in a team and can engage successfully in discussions involving more than two people.

Why do you want to study at this university, and what can you offer us?

The interviewer wants to see that you’ve done your research about what makes the university stand out from the others that offer the same course. They also want to know what you feel makes you the ideal candidate for their university.

Why do you want to be a physiotherapist (and not something else)?

With so many career options available to graduating students the interviewer wants to know your personal reasons for choosing to study and work in physiotherapy/the healthcare industry.

What did you do during your work experience placement?

This is your chance to really show off what you’ve learnt during any work experience you’ve completed. The interviewer wants you to demonstrate at least a basic knowledge of physiotherapy, both practical and theoretical.
